Decide
Understand whether a new Isle of Man company is viable for how you actually operate — before any paperwork.
After your enquiry
Thanks — here’s what happens next.
Before we call you, it’s worth five minutes to understand how this actually works. Most people come to us wanting to move their company to the Isle of Man to cut corporation tax — and personal tax too. That’s not quite how it works, and getting it right matters, because HMRC pays close attention to businesses that shift assets offshore.
The good news: there’s a proper way to do this. It just isn’t instant, and it isn’t automatic.
The misconception
“I want to move my company to the Isle of Man.”
That’s the request we hear most. In reality, you don’t move your existing UK company — HMRC will look hard at any transfer of assets abroad, and a paper relocation with no real change underneath it won’t survive scrutiny.
What actually works is starting a new Isle of Man company, and building it into a genuine, standalone, successful business in its own right. Your existing UK company can continue to exist alongside it. The tax benefit comes from where the new company’s activity, decisions, and profit genuinely sit — not from re-labelling what you already have.
It’s a journey, not a switch
Plan it over 12 months, not a weekend’s paperwork.
You can start making tax savings as soon as the new company is trading — that part can happen quickly if the business is genuinely operating. But the savings only hold up long-term if the company has real substance: its own presence, people, and decision-making on the Island. Building that takes time, and it’s the part most people underestimate.
Decide
Understand whether a new Isle of Man company is viable for how you actually operate — before any paperwork.
Build
Form the company, put local leadership in place, and stand up banking, contracts and operations on the Island.
Maintain
Keep substance real as the business grows: people, premises, board decisions and filings on-Island.
Rule of thumb
20%
Reinvest around £20,000 of a £100,000 tax saving into real substance.
That 20% isn’t a fee to us — it’s what it typically costs to make the company real.
The investment
A simple way to think about the cost.
If you’re saving £100,000 in corporation tax, plan to reinvest around £20,000 of that saving into giving the company real substance.
That 20% isn’t a fee to us — it’s what it typically costs to make the company real: local staff, a genuine office, local contracts, local decision-making. Skip it, and the saving is the thing most at risk if anyone ever looks closely.
What “substance” actually means
The Isle of Man isn’t the UK — and that difference is the whole point.
A few things are non-negotiable. None of this needs to be figured out from scratch — it’s exactly what the planning process below is built to work out for your specific situation.
Resident director
At least one Isle of Man–resident director — decisions need to genuinely happen on the Island.
Local operations
Buying local where you can, rather than running everything through UK suppliers and staff.
Contracts on-Island
Contracts controlled from the Island — even where the underlying assets or clients are in the UK.
Corporate Service Provider
Most businesses will need a CSP to handle the regulated and administrative side properly.
