IOMAA
More Than Accountants for Isle of Man Athletics
From financial management to governance, systems, and growth — supporting a stronger, more sustainable future for athletics on the Isle of Man.
Supporting the Future of Athletics on the Isle of Man
When we began working with Isle of Man Athletics (IOMAA), the initial requirement was straightforward — to take over the accounts and bookkeeping.
However, as we looked more closely, it became clear that the challenges extended beyond finance.
Like many volunteer-led organisations, structural and operational pressures had begun to limit efficiency and slow progress.
Our role quickly evolved into something broader — supporting the association in building a stronger, more sustainable foundation for the future.
The Challenges Facing the Association
- Unclear roles and responsibilities
- Increasing workload on a small number of individuals
- Manual, paper-based processes
- Limited digital infrastructure
- Risks around data and communications
Without change, these issues can slow progress and place unnecessary pressure on the people keeping the association running.
Strengthening Governance for the Future
The association’s constitution dated back to 2013 and no longer reflected how it operates today.
We are developing a new constitution designed for 2026 and beyond, clearly defining roles and responsibilities across the committee.
This reduces job creep, improves accountability, and enables more confident, structured decision-making.
Strong governance creates stability — and that is essential for long-term growth.
Improving Data Security and Compliance
As an organisation registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), data protection is a key responsibility.
We conducted a full review of email systems, document storage, and internal communications to ensure a secure and structured environment.
The result is improved compliance alongside a more efficient and manageable system for handling information.
Supporting Long-Term Funding
We developed a professional sponsorship pitch deck aligned with the association’s guidelines, enabling clearer and more confident communication with potential sponsors.
This positions the organisation as structured, credible, and forward-thinking — improving its ability to secure funding and support future growth.
Moving Away from Paper-Based Processes
Much of the association’s administration was handled manually — from paper forms to cash payments and in-person sign-on nights.
This created unnecessary friction for both volunteers and members.
To solve this, we developed a purpose-built solution.
SurveyCentral.im is a flexible platform designed for clubs and associations to manage registrations, data, and payments in one place.
It allows the association to create dynamic online forms, manage multiple users, and access real-time data.
Forms automatically adapt based on age and gender, calculate age groups from date of birth, and adjust consent requirements accordingly — removing errors and saving time.
It’s also fully integrated with online payments, allowing for dynamic pricing based on responses.
The result is a smoother experience for members and a significant reduction in admin for volunteers.
Building a Stronger Future for Isle of Man Athletics
Our role extends far beyond traditional accounting.
We are helping reduce pressure on volunteers, improve governance, modernise operations, strengthen compliance, and unlock new funding opportunities.
Everything is focused on creating a foundation that allows the association to grow, evolve, and thrive in the years ahead.
