Let me start by saying this isn’t a cry for help — it’s an honest question I’ve been asking myself lately.

It’s one that creeps up when I meet new people, watch how they behave, or see the versions of themselves they project into the world. Beneath all the smiles, job titles, and curated Instagram stories, there’s a deeper question I can’t shake.

The world right now seems completely lit up with the possibilities of AI. Every industry is buzzing with it, every business leader is talking about it, and every tech magazine is proclaiming it as the future.

I look back on lockdown quite fondly. Maybe that’s strange to say, but no one close to me was seriously affected by Covid, and what we had instead was a strange, sunny stretch of enforced stillness.

Picture the scene.
You’re driving. The radio’s on. A phrase lands just right — bam, inspiration strikes. A blog post starts to form in your head. Years of experience condensed into a thousand words. You feel that “this is a good one” excitement.

I’m sorry, but I don’t read.
Well, that’s a lie. I do read — I just didn’t for a long time.

I have this habit—one that my team finds highly annoying—of following the mantra “Ready, fire, aim.”
